I had a nice surprise today while bringing into pieces the combined ignition switch/light/ammeter/oil pressure panel, which needed cleaning and some restoration.

On the back of the panel, near the MG bezel, was the 4/9/32 date, followed by A, "written" by hand with some sharp tool. (incidentally, MMM Register records mention that my car, J 2195, was manufactured 22/9/32).

More graffiti in strange places ; PA 0603 has 8/4/34 - the manufacture date - scratched inside the door-handle covers. By whom and why is not recorded.

Christian it is the drip tray that fits under the end of the gearbox extension immediately below the gear lever.

I wonderered wheher it might be a Mike Dowley part number - but it isn't!

Perhaps a s/h dealer's inscription? Probably not that either!

Brian,

GF telephone number was a french joke ! Besides, writing a number under the gear lever must be an acrobat job... but you never know !
