I was under the impression all P-Types had a spare plug holder on the firewall. My own PB0268 does, but I was just looking at the old original firewall off PB0381 and it didn't have any evidence of one being fitted. No holes.

Further, PB0751 never had one. No holes.

Anybody know why it was stopped, or maybe just hit or miss?

OK, not much response......

Could I ask P-Type owners, does YOUR firewall have a spare plug holder, and if so, do you know if it's original.

Thanks! tommm

PB: yes, probably original as it was old and beat up
PA: yes, rescued restoration so who knows

Were the originals marked "Lodge" or "KLG". I have seen both. - Jack in windy Dallas

Hi Tom,

My late PA had one fitted. About 10 years ago Alan Hogg broke up a PB for spares and I have that firewall in the garage. I have just looked at it and it has the holes where the spark plug holder should go but they are filled up with a countersunk bolt. It does not look like there was one ever fitted. Sorry but I do not know if that helps you or not? I seem to remember they were a sales give away item from the spark plug companies, so that may be why you do not have them on late PB’s. Also all the L1 Continental Coupes I have seen have spark plug holders but only for 4 plugs! See you at Silverstone…. Regards Terry A

My PB bought in 1965 had a holder, I,also with my brother, had a PA 4 seater and a PA in the late 60's all of which had spare plug holders. I suspect that this was an original and uniform part on the firewall.

My PB appears to have a pair of holes in the correct position, but I think the original plug holder would have been removed when a Marshall super charger was fitted in 1936.

My PB 0480 has a pair of holes in what I assumed were the correct position for the spare plug holder. When I fitted on origional holder purchased from David Gregory it fitted perfectly!
I believe this means my car came with the holder...

My car too has holes in the right place, but no plug holder...
