My pal Bill Piggott is looking for some spares for his M-Type.

As he is waiting to join the Forum I have posted this request on his behalf. If you can assist him please contact him off-line at the number or e-mail address given below.

Many thanks.

For 1930 M type, a gearlever for the 3 speed gearbox, plus its small holding down plate with 3 holes...also, a handbrake and mechanism to suit a 3 speed M type, as I'm trying to return my car to original spec....

Bill Piggott, 01584-711459 or bill.pig@hotmail.co.uk

Dick,

I have sent an e-mail to Bill - laced with my usual verbiage.

Best wishes,

Colin.

Dick,

Is he looking for someone onto whom he can offload his old four speed box?

Kind regards

My pal Bill Piggott reports receiving 2 e-mails from predatory scammers (details below) replying to his request for M-type bits.

They were instantly recognisable as such, but nevertheless it's a timely reminder to us all that these folk are still around and trying it on and about the need for caution ....

Here they are:-

If you ask the scammers for photos of the parts in question you will find that their camera has suddenly packed up or they are having trouble in sending attachments.

This is not a scam message. A friend of mine has a complete M Type spare gearbox which includes the gear and handbrake lever. He may be interested to exchange it with a suitable (non original) four speed gearbox with ancillaries to fit his 1930 M Type MG. Gearbox is in Italy.

Thank you Paulo.

I will pass your message on to Bill, but I am fairly sure he does not wish to dispose of his 4-speed gearbox.

Best wishes
Dick

Hi

I had the same reply from James Rutherford which I thought was a scam. I left replying for a week. The reply bounce back as it said the email did not exist. In the past I have done what John James has said in I never get a reply. If it is an email supposedly from the USA I reply and say that I had a son working in that state so he will come and visit and I never get a reply. All these scams seem to come from an advertisement I placed on the SVW register website as I was looking for a pair of VA carburettors…. Regards…. Terry A
