Hello. I need a PA type turret for my remote gear lever control. The turret needs the catch type to prevent selection of reverse. If I manage to find one then I will have a turret without a catch for sale. Can anyone help me please. Thanks Michael.

Just looked on my remote assembly that is going on a 'special'. There are 2 holes on the foremost edge that align vertically. Is that what you need? It is worn at the top of this front edge. I'll try and get a photo. No catch fitted, though.

If it is suitable for you, do you have a different one to trade, assuming that it will do the same job as the one I'm taking off?

That Rob looks very like a P one that someone has b++++red! The one hole held a spring blade that kept the catch in the selected position, while the remains of the two lugs on which the catch pivoted are visible above it.

So, does anyone have a pic to show what it should look like? I TIG weld aluminium aircraft components as a hobby so I can fix these things.

I also make ali cowlings, exhaust systems and stuff like that. Just a hobby so I don't charge for time, just materials. Before and after shot of a top cowling.

Rob,
Here ar a couple of pictures of my gearbox turret.
One from the back and one from the front showing the two lugs that support the catch and the flat spring.

The plane wouldn't be a Clutton Fred would it Rob?

Just curious.

Spot on, Dave. G-BMMF.

Thanks for all those pictures. I'll have a crack at welding some lugs onto mine and see if it is a weldable material. Are the catches and springs available, if needed?
My own gearbox is 3-speed and the arrangement of gearstick positions is different from the P-type.

At the risk of being shot down, I think it's electron or elektron which is a magnesium alloy.

The old plane anorak.

Hello Rob
Thanks for the interest and offer but please don't risk ruining your turret on my behalf. They seem almost impossible to get hold of. I'll keep the search up for an original because at the end of the day the the turret without the catch add to the driving experience! Michael.

Hmmm

I only have one leaf to my spring and it works fine. Are the two leaves the same?

My original turret has a single leaf spring. I always drive with the safety. Arch off anyway - saves time!
