Hi,
Does anyone have available to borrow to copy any original ash frame members?
I need sill, door hanging post ,wheel arch and back panel. Condition isn't important as long as shape and joints are clear.
Regards,
Garry

10 Miles west of Cardiff, if you can't find one closer. I'm probably not going to be able to strip it apart by myself so it would be a 'visit' or I'd need to find some willing helpers.

Hello Rob

That frame looks strangely familiar!

Just as a matter of interest, is the front horizontal spar at the top, under the scuttle, stamped PA0743? If it is I'd be interested in it, because my new (12 years ago) body tub does lack this authentic piece of history!

Regards
Dick

Rob,
Thanks for that, I'm in Cumbria. I'll wait to see if anything nearer home crops up first.

Garry,
I'd be surprised if you don't already know this but Rique Llinares up in your part of the world will supply individual pieces of body frame woodwork.

Dick. Any ideas whereabouts I should be looking? Is it tiny or a BFH stamping?
I'm laid up with a fractured spine so any chance to save crawling endlessly about in the shed would be handy!!!

Hi Maurice,
Yes I know Rique very well. But I do like to do my own. Having said that he would probably loan me his patterns, but it seems a bit cheeky asking.

Hello Rob,

Sorry to hear of your malady. The numbers are stamped on the rear-facing side of the top spar - it's the one next to the grey-painted steel front panel - and they're on the LHS.

From memory they are about 1/2inch high - or maybe a little smaller.

Dick and Rob,
The question of stamped numbers on the wooden spar came up before. I think I was the one that asked. They are not the chassis number but rather a somewhat sequential number depending on the body style. They start at (as I recall) with 2500 for Airline Coupes, for example, and increment by one for each body. I suspect they were the number assigned by Carbodies as built.
You are correct as to the location and size. Somewhere I have the numbers I was recording as answers to by question. I'll see if I can find it again.

Regarding body numbers on the ash frame cross-member, here's what my old original PB body looked like during strip:

Plus my new Rique Llinaries ash frame and body number:

Hope this helps.

Just been down to the shed. No sign whatsoever of a stamped number on the timberwork. N/S and O/S scratched roughly onto the side members, though. I'd take a guess at it having been rebuilt once before!

Yes Lew, PB0610* H.G. Kohl, living in our town and the owner is H.G. Kohl. The Airline-Coupe is red over dark red.

Manfred,
The ownership of PB0610 was not in question, but the body number is. If he still has the body number on the wooden crossmember, I would very much like to have it.

By the way, I am in contact with a very early owner of PB0610. If Herr Kohl would like to get in touch with me, I'll pass on the details.
