Page 13 in the October issue of 'The Automobile' has the following opinion, from the pen of one Matthew Bell, on four- versus six-cylinder cars.
'And yet, aren't there a few six-cylinder cars whose performance isn't obviously much better?
I'm thinking of the Wolseley Hornet and the MG Magna - fine cars both, but hardly more reliable or speedy than, say, an Austin Seven Ulster or Anzani-engined Frazer Nash.'
In my experience of driving numerous P types and subsequently the L2 and NB, I would say the 6 cylinder has the better performance - particularly as the sixes have better torque. But a nicely set up 4 cylinder Triple-M engine just thrives on revs.
