I have just been sent this photo of my car by a previous owner taken in 1964 when he was a medical student.
The scene was so typical ( in my case a TC that year ), no garage, working outside parents house, oily overalls, woolly hat, desperately trying to put it back together as need it for work tomorrow !!
Many thanks to Danny Finch for the photo. Brings it all back.

Brings it back - a 60s Sunday afternoon of stripping the PA's rear axle on the nearest piece of wide pavement in order to replace the half-shaft. Clocking on at 7.30 the following morning was looming.

Sadly, no photo taken, though, for the present owner of BEV 307.

Bob.

What a lovely photo! Looks like an indicator mounted on the side of the body ahead of the door?

It also brings back memories of my ownership of PA1248 in 1959 - 1961 when it was parked outside my digs in Putney. I used to have to park with the nearside on the kerb to prevent the rear axle leaking due to the steep camber of the road!

Ah yes, I remember it well! The Ormeau Road in Belfast, 1968, with my TC parked with two wheels on the footpath and me lying in the gutter so that I could drop the sump and change the big end bearings in the forlorn hope that doing so would improve the faltering oil pressure! And then wringing the nut on a big end bolt 'cos I was re-using the old ones as I couldn't really afford to replace them. And then having to saw the nut off with a broken hacksaw blade (there wasn't room to use a saw) and ending up having to buy new bolts anyway.

Happy days? Hmm....
