The brake drums don't look silver in the pre war photo of the car, Bob. Neither do the wheels. Maybe it got some shiny new silver wheels and a lick of paint on the drums to celebrate VE Day? |

I wish I could ask them now, but time has beaten us. Here is the partner to the pre-war photo, with Joan at the wheel. I agree that the drums and wheels don't look silver, but the don't look black to me either, compared with the bodywork, which is definitely black.
At that time the upholstery was apple green (now dark green).
I am not an originality stickler; the drums are now black and the wheels dark green, mainly because they don't show the dirt so much .
Incidentally, the car appears to be sporting a BMW badge under the n/s headlamp, but I presume that would be a car club. The car was based in London and Dover.

Colin I seem to remember that on P types the wheels were the same colour as the upholstery and that the drums and carpets were black. My PB left the factory with black body and apple green upholstery, black carpets and green wheels. I think the colour combination works very well!
