Hi all, Last weekend we held the first South African MMM National Gathering at Franschhoek just outside Cape Town. This was an opportunity for all MMM owners to get their cars out from under covers and back on the road. We had over 20 participants from around the country and some from as far as White River, over 2000 km from Cape Town. Some had not driven their cars in the last 20 years!! It was a great time of connection and many were enthused and are now working to get their cars back on the road. Friday was registration and a time for all to meet and reconnect old friendships. Saturday morning was a drive through the picturesque village of Franschhoek and then a trip up to one of the local wineries for a picnic lunch. Saturday afternoon was left open to enjoy the atmosphere of this wonderful village before a great dinner in the evening. Many MMM stories were told, especially those really facinating ones from Ralph Clarke. Sunday morning was time just to chat and inspect cars before the final drive through to the most excellent Franschhoek Motor Museum on the La Ormarins wine farm. Tribute was paid to Phil Costa, a long time MMM personality in Cape Town, and a custodian of 5 MMM cars including Hoodoo, the C-type Montlhery Midget. On Monday we had a typical South African 'Braaivleis' (barbecue!!) at a local home to end the event.
Hoodoo was out and was in very fine form!! She did not miss a beat! She was really sounding good as Ralph Clarke has recently rebuilt the engine and as usual has done an excellent job.
