I have been in touch with the granddaughter of the first owner of one of my 1930s Rovers. She asked me if the other car that was in the family was still around. The family name was Hayman and she thinks the car was an M or J type of around 1932 -34 vintage. Does anyone know if the car still exists ?

Looks like it may have been an M type, as FD 8546 2M1273 was built 20th March 1930. FD was a Dudley registration number and the lists are available at the Archives and Local History Service, Mount Pleasant Street, Coseley, Dudley, DY14 9JR. (01387-269254). Any pictures would be great!

I have now spoken to the brother of the lady who was looking for FD 9892. Well in fact FD 9892 was a 1936 Rover 10 owned by the family so sorry for the wrong information. The brother gave me the correct details of the M type and here is a copy of his email : -
' MGs again, mine was a 1931 M-type reg no. DG 4888. It was originally a very rare Doctors Coupe but unfortunately it had been cut down to a 2-seater. It had a Ford 10 1172cc side valve engine. I bought it from Suzanne Raines ( ah, there's another story .... ) as a rolling chassis and three tea chests full of bits. With no money behind me I just assembl;ed what I found and ran it around. As with Snowdrop ( my Rover 10hp that he was a previous owner of ) I have a photo of my first wife sitting on the bonnet. the car was sold at Sotherby's Auction at Penshurst Place, Kent circa 1975 ( I still have the sale catalogue ), I'd be more than happy to pass on all this info and more if you have contacts in the MMM register '
So if the car is still around, maybe you own DG 4888, contact me and I will put you in touch with this previous owner.
