Hello,
I'm the new proud owner of PB 565 with still the correct engine 819 APB and Original registration JR 4895 from 20-05-1936 to wing commander C.L.Gunn.
Where can I find some of the history of this PB 565 from 1936 on ?
The car has been extensively restored a couple of years ago in Norway and it was located in Sweden from 1977.
There's no history of it between 1936 and 1966.
Body type B251 and Body N°1723/2834
All help is welcome!

Hello Scartie

Well done on your purchase of the PB.

You can obtain information on the car from the MG Car Club, Abingdon, who hold the original chassis files. There is a small charge for copying the information, John Inness is the person to contact.

I am sure you will enjoy the PB

Scartie,

www.kitheadtrust.org.uk is worth looking at, I have just contacted them re my J2 and waiting back. They are a charity and have much history of cars prior to 1948.
Good luck,
Ashley

Wg. Cdr. Gunn's R.A.F. service record, normally viewable at the National Archive, Kew, may well tell you more, depending on how long he owned the car and whether he was active or on the Retired list.

Going there in person is often worthwhile.

Bob.

The Kithead Trust is OK, and may have some records.
However, "JR" is Morpeth and the records are available at The Morpeth Records Centre, The Lylins, Loansdean, Morpeth, NE71 2EQ. Tel: 01670 - 504084.
There may be a small charge for the service, so maybe a call is the first point of contact.
Cheers,

Mike Dalby

I still have official RAF lists for 1934, 1938 and 1952 and strangely C L Gunn is not listed on any. It must mean that he was retired/no longer on active service but other records are available as Bob mentions.
Good luck, Simon.
