I have just posted the following news item on my website www.ttypes.org
We were saddened to learn that Jean Kimber Cook passed away this morning. The funeral is to be arranged as a private family only service. It is early days yet to know if there will be a memorial service.
A fine MG lady indeed. She rescued my wife and me one rainy night near Silverstone in the '90s. We were in the N type on our way back from the circuit to our B&B around midnight when we came at a high rate of speed upon a flooded section of the country lane. The distributor was soaked and we were stranded in several inches of water. Trying to decide what to do (no cell phones in those days) when headlights appeared and a car eased through the water and stopped beside us. The window lowered and the nice gray-headed lady driving (by herself on a rather remote country lane AFTER midnight)said: "I'm Jean Kimber Cook. You might have heard of my father, Cecil Kimber. May I be of any assistance?"
