so until what time can the scrutineers and sign on be bothered?
As 9:20 and 10:00 are a bit tight in our schedule....
But qualifying at 11:10 should not be a problem!
Looking forward to it :)

Onno , don't worry ! There will certainly be a team of helpers awaiting the arrival from Holland , and they will help speed you through signing-on and scrutineering . We will have warned both Race Control and the scrutineering bay that there may be a late-comer .

Entry List should open with this. http://www.mgcc.co.uk/motorsport/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2013/11/Silverstone-National-Race-Entry-Lists7.pdf

Can anyone else apply to be speeded through Fred, as you mentioned previously, I might not be able to catch up otherwise !!

Regards
David D

With regard to the green flag lap, I think the suggest speed sounds fine - but if the Q-Type performs, I'll be very surprised if Fossie can be restrained to that - As he's quite likely to be on pole I suggest you brace yourself for the odd nudge!

Ok thanks for that. I'll put Foz on my watch list

As an ex MG Trophy racer I have a little experience of those tactics....

Kind regards

Phil

This might be a good time to remind all and sundry that Saturday's Triple-M/T-Type race at Silverstone will see 13 Triple-M cars on the grid, along with a solitary Riley Brooklands, 7 T-types and a Jacobs special = 22 cars in all

Foz will be forsaking the Rat in order to drive a Q-type. Also in close contention will be 5 (yes 5) C-types, a J1, a J2, a very orange PA, a PB and 3 N-types.

It will cost you just £10 for entry to the circuit, so do please come along to cheer on the chaps, and the lady competitor who have made a great commitment by entering for the event!

There will be plenty of time for banter and socialising.

See you there?

************* UPDATE **************

The weather forecast for Saturday says dry and 15 degrees C - almost balmy - or is that barmy?

Yes it is , at least according to the unexpurgated list - but we know the true situation!

UPDATE

Well, the race has come and gone and as so often it was a day of mixed fortunes.

First of all, huge thanks are due to Dave Saunders of the MGCC for making it possible to have the race in the first place and to Fred Boothby for working so hard to get the grid together.

13 Triple-M cars competed, although by the end of race practice three had had to withdraw: Fred Boothby, (C-type) and Barry Foster (Q-type) (blower problems) and David Downes (NA, with loss of oil pressure)

(This may be the last time we see this Q-type in the country for a while, as it was to return to Sweden.)

That left Thijs de Groot (PA Special) heading the Triple-M start line followed by Hamish McNinch (C-type) and Chris Smith (NB) and the rest of the field.

Sad to report, the race had to be red-flagged because of an incident at Maggotts. Hamish's C-type developed a flat rear tyre and in taking to the grass to get clear of the circuit, the car dug in and rolled, pitching him out, then rolling harmlessly clear of the driver.

Hamish was airlifted to hospital, from where he has been in touch to say that he has two broken vertebrae and bruised ribs, but is otherwise OK. Hamish, we all wish you a speedy recovery.

After the race re-start Dave Cooksey's C-type got the jump on the other Triple-M cars but was soon overhauled by Thijs de Groot's PA Special, which ended the race in first place.

The winning order of the seven cars that finished was:
Thijs de Groot (just 12 seconds slower than the winning T-type)
Jane Metcalfe (NA)
Andrew Morland in his first race (Barry Foster's C-type)
Mark Dolton PB (also in his first race)
Oliver Richardson (C-type - a very effective car despite being in its original configuration with an AA head)
David Cooksey (C-type - whose blower gave trouble towards the end of the race)
Chris Cadman (C-type)

On the basis of an 'unofficial' handicap, a different picture emerged:
Jane Metcalfe
Mark Dolton
Thijs de Groot
Andrew Morland
Oliver Richardson
David Cooksey
Chris Cadman

The non-finishers were
Hamish McNinch
Chris Smith (NB - blown head gasket)
Stuart Evans (J1, which had been very competitive - recurrence of top end oil leak)
Clive Temple (Riley Brooklands)

This was a really good occasion and a great atmosphere prevailed in the Triple-M paddock throughout the day. It was also nice to welcome the other Triple-M cars that came along. In addition to yours truly's PA and George Eagle's L2, Geoff Godwin brought along his special-bodied NA, which always attracts attention, Malcolm Newman was there in his ex-Ashton-Rigby L2 and a special appearance was made by Colin Butchers in his now restored P type, which he had driven all the way from Sussex.

The Dutch contingent presented bunches of orange (of course) tulips and biscuits to those in 'proper' cars and Mark Dolton and team provided breakfast and other comestibles during the day. All in all it was a great team effort and thanks are due to everyone who contributed.

Next up: MG90!
