A warning to all, I recently used this service to send some rareish bits and they managed to lose them. Had I read the small print I would have seen that 'car parts' are sent on a no guarantee basis - if they lose them, tough luck! Had I described the parts as books or something else, for example, I would have been compensated (their own notes suggest this!) They use the services of MyHermes, and it is their rules that set this restriction - so if you use them, lie about the contents!

Might be difficult if sending a cylinder block, I suppose...

Happy Christmas folks!

Regards,
Graham

I used MyHermes that was mentioned in the original post for something non car related, and they too lost the parcel.

In fact they decided that even though I paid for a 'signed for' delivery that they would just leave it on the doorstep, not get the recipient signature and sign for it themselves. It went missing.

I would never use MyHermes again.

I totally agree with the these remarks.
I too had a bad experience with Hermes.
They couldn't find the addressee of a parcel I sent with them. Took 2 weeks to get back.
I will never use them again.

Mind you, UPS delivered an exhaust to an address 6 or 7 miles from me & claimed it was signed for. It had been wrapped with masses of the sender's Selotape all over it so what this "signer" thought he was receiving.....

Happy Christmas.

I have to say, I have both sent and received stuff through My Hermes and have never had a problem. Not sure if that proves anything, but just wanted to add some balance...

So many dynamos

I have also sent other stuff in the past without a problem - I just think its absurd that they will not accept responsibility for their mistakes. I have also lost stuff with the Royal Mail, so all are fallible!

The service provided by Hermes and in particular by one of their sub-contractors was featured in the Sunday Times today ...

Perhaps my comment is not in vain - apparently a somewhat haphazard service!
