Hello to all,
First of all: Sorry for my worse english. the Wing stays for the cyclewings of my
MG special looks very poor. i want to improve this. Is there someone who can tell me where to get J2 front Wing stays, or something similar?
It would be great to some help from you.
best regards from Germany

Hello Johannes
Good original J2 front wing stays are in short supply but I have heard that Sports and Vintage have new ones in production so it would be worthwhile you contacting them to ascertain timescales. Some of the ali replica ones that have been available in the last few years are not too good - I would avoid these.

Is it the upper stays that are required or the short ones at the rear of the front wing? I realize that the J2 and PA stays are different, but I made the ones on my PA by bending, drilling and welding some heavy gauge steel pipe.

Hello Lew,
i need only the upper front Wing stays. The stays of a PA/PB are totally different to the J2 ones. the body of my MG was once mounted one a J2 chassis, therefor, the proportionen with J2 wingstay would be the right.

thanks you "tholden" for advice, i'll get in contact with them.

regards
Johannes

Hi entenhannes,
J2 wing stays will not work T-Type wider front track.
The cycle wings don`t cover the wheels at that place
you will expect for.

Hi Johannes

I made my own upper and lower wing stays for the L2 and used the C/K style brackets to secure the wings to the stays. I bought the brackets and rubber mounting from Barry Walker.

Your car obviously has a wider front axle and therefore the standard J2 stays would look all wrong as Carl has pointed out. You could make your own to suite the wider track.

Hi Johannes,

what you need are C/K Type wing stays and Original Factory Pattern Wing Fixing Clamps - both available from Barry Walker,
with these parts and situable tubes you are able to adjust the
cycle wings to the middle of the wheels

hers are two samples,

cheers

I wanted to keep the headlamps/headlamp supports in their original position hence the shape of the wing stays.

Hello,
thanks for your help and support. IŽll take wing stay from a K - Modell. This ones seems the best solution. It would be very kindly if someone could sent me some
pics etc., where and how to fix them exactly.
regards

Hello,
and this is the result of the frontend improvement. Yes, i know the flashers are missing, they will follow the next days, and yes it is only a crazy "MG Bastard"' but i love this smal and fast MG!
Hope the car won' t be a shame for the MG enthusiasts.
all the best
Johannes
If there is anyone who knows something about the history of the car, i will be happy to
get further informations.

Looks like I will have to look at making a tablet version of the site. Don't hold your breath however.
