Recently a member told me that MG was always a cheap car, compared to RR or Bentley, which is quite credible however, regardless of this fact, what really interests me is to know
just how well finished the new cars were before the war, and the parts fitted. The quality of manufacture, particularly in comparison to the restored cars we see today.
Has any member had the luck to examine an original unrestored car
and scrutinize the detail very closely?

If so I would be very interested to hear their opinion.

My gut feeling is that a new 1930's car would compare poorly next to a fully restored car today in the area of paint finish, particularly around edges, underneath and in the engine bay. The panel fit however should be superior. I can only judge this from factory photos as I have not come across a fully unrestored car in good condition. Just my opinion.
