Hello gentlemen,

Could anyone help me please? I need a suitable differential case and bearing caps for a P type.

I recently broke six teeth on my crown wheel and purchased a replacement cw&p set. Unfortunately I have subsequently found that the new cw is too big for the case taken off. In my ignorance it appears that I may have a Morris 8 diff case, which I believe from threads on this forum, is too shallow to take the P type cw.

So back to my original question, does anyone have a suitable differential case they would be prepared to sell me please?

Any help or advice will be gratefully received.

Nigel

Hi Nigel
I have just had exactly the same problem and like you
Bought the same cw&p to large .
I have now bought a smaller one from sports &vintage I believe
From a m type 9.44
Not sure a 4 cyl car would cope with this !

9:44 is correct for an M-Type. This ratio is virtually the same as 8:39.

I had a similar problem with my M-Type with its new 8:39 cwp, so I cut a small notch in the casing. Once inside there is enough room for it, so no problem. John

I am pleased to say that my rear axle is now back in one piece with a nice new re built diff and steel case.

This would not have been possible to achieve with out the help of Geoff Godwin, who kindly provided me with a suitable steel case, and Ken Robinson who did an outstanding job in rebuilding the diff. My thanks to you both.
