The winner of the 1936 Limerick Grand Prix is for sale - see http://anthonygodin.co.uk/car/mg-pb-supercharged-1936-limerick-gp-winner/

This car features in Mark Dolton's excellent 2013 Year Book article on the Limerick Grand Prix but isn't listed in the 2014 Register. Or at least only the link between chassis number and original registration number is listed, but the car itself isn't listed. One to keep an eye on?

Simon,

If the car is PB 0648 it is listed in the 2014 Register Listing, it has Register Number 3458 and the listing names the last known owner.

Peter.

In the for sale advertiser's photos of PB0648, can anyone advise what the alum-coloured 'blister' is for on the lower rear section of the bonnet right-hand side, please?

Is it not adjacent to the drivers foot/accelerator pedal.

Driver with Big feet?

Was originally 4 seat PB.

I think the car went on sale earlier this year.

There is a old forum post on this, if you search "Limerick" under archived.

I recall this car was the subject of a previous discussion on this Forum?

The car was originally a 4 seater - there is a period photo of the it leaving the pits.

The car has been for sale for some time.

Here is how it appeared in the 2010 Year Book in Bob Clare's article on the role of the Registrar

Perhaps I should have included the caption that Bob Clare appended to the picture:

"PB 0648 (yes, it is a J2 back end on a four-seater PB)"

This car, 6 KPK, is featured in Bonhams upcoming 7th. December Oxford Sale at Kidlington.

In addition, there is an 'MG J.1 Special', APC401.

Both cars visible at www.bonhams.com

However, following a hundred-mile trip last week with two grandchildren in the back of the Golf, I am becoming more inclined to the same sale's Sunbeam 16.9 saloon with division!

Bob.

The Limerick PB, 6 KPK, was sold at Bonhams, Kidlington, this afternoon at a hammer price of £65,000.

The J.1. Special, APC 401, sold at £26,000 hammer price and a respectable '53 TF made £12,000.

All pus commission, of course.
