Can anyone please tell me where I can get new brushes for my 2 brush M35A Lucas starter motor? So far, the usual suppliers on the internet have been unable to help. They are approx. 5/16" x 5/8" with a 1/8" diameter approx. hole for the contact fixing screw centred at approx. 3/16" from the top. The material would appear to be a copper/carbon mix.

Hi,
I've had them from S&V in the past.

Hi Martin

Have you tried JCR Supplies, Vintage Supplies(Paul Beck) or Tim Hodgkiss
all have web sites and may be able to help.

I would also recommend Wood Autos of Huddersfield. Their catalogue lists several trillion motor brushes for practically every make of starter motor known to man, complete with pretty litte photographs and dimensions of them all. The M35 range of Lucas motors is included.

Many thanks to all of you who replied.
I found the brushes at Sports and Vintage and Jamie says they'll be in the post today.
Should have gone there first? - although £15.95 +VAT seemed just a tad pricy. Possibly a case of Hen's Teeth?
