Russ, the car is recorded on the database as NA0356 but it has not been accorded a Register number.

Well, well, NA0356 is listed in the printed 2015 Register as having Register number 2226, but by 2017 it is simply listed, with no Register number, and 2226 is now missing from the numerical list of numbers. And there's no sign of it in the online database.
How odd. (Or not, as the case may be!)

Oddly I left my printed listings at home before heading on hols to Greece, so my only info comes from the live database record

I’m disappointed that you don’t carry the printed Register, including back issues with you on hols, Dick! But rest assured the car has lost its Register number, and the number itself has disappeared from the 2017 edition. And nor is the car listed on the publicly accessible database.
All very odd.

This car is built on a new chassis, with a non-original knuckle. The original knuckle is in the possession of another party and I understand will in due course be re-united with the car.

I thought the other (original)knuckle had been "lost" and there was a letter on file and the car was accepted as it was? |

The picture shown in the posting appears to have been taken when the car was advertised for sale by Barry Walker in 2016.
As Graham has indicated the car is built on an entirely new chassis, the current owner is fully aware of both this and the documentation relating to the original knuckle for NA0356 which is missing presumed lost.

"The original knuckle is in the possession of another party and I understand will in due course be re-united with the car."
".....and the documentation relating to the original knuckle for NA0356 which is missing presumed lost."
Which is it - in the possession of another party - or missing presumed lost?
How would it have been possible for this car to have been granted its original registration mark without the proper evidence of its chassis stamping?
Who authorised it?
Answers please!

there are certainly some major pitfalls in buying MMM MG's.....there are certainly a lot of cars out there been built on different chassis some original some new some purporting to be original when all that exists is the original knuckle......"Danger Minefield" tread carefully is an understatement if ever there was one.....LOL......does the database indicate it was built on a new chassis if not why not? |

In answer to Russ's question - yes of course the record does indicate the car is built on a new chassis.
John - the knuckle is as I say missing presumed lost. As to how the car was Registered, the only person who can answer that question is unfortunately no longer living - the Register was not involved in any way.
There is nothing else we can add!

It all seems a bit 'murky' to me.
Obviously needs some detective work.
I'm on the case and will be in touch with my contacts.

From the bottom of the page in The MG Experience advert, what does "Currently there is no owner set for this vehicle. If you own this vehicle and would like to claim ownership, please send an email to the webmaster - make sure to include the VIN or a link to this page, and details about when you came into ownership of the vehicle for confirmation." mean, I have never seen that sort of comment before?

None of this explains how, or in what circumstances, the car seems to have been 'deregistered' between 2015 and 2017. What transpired to make that happen?

so what your saying is the registry knows of and has a record of chassis NA0356 and all the details but when I look on the database it's not there ....so in future if I need to check on a chassis number and get all the details it's probably best to ignore the database and email yourself Dick as you may be party to all the information and more..... |
