I wonder if anyone knows of this car, it has a Ceylonese registration and was owned by Alan C. L. Bayne a well known exponent of Rileys.

I think it could be a TA. It has side-laced wheels and a slight hint of an apex to the centre of the cowl just behind the bonnet centre line. For some reason TAs have this whereas the later T types all have a smooth curve here. This photo shows it up well:

Thanks gents, I've always had an interest in the minutae of MG design. Some are the best examples of design (given the limited budgets they had) in the art deco period, which is my favourite.

I think so, Nigel. The use of geometric shapes (such as the octagon) played a big part in this new (at the time) technical design revolution.
