A nice picture from November's Motor Sport. Apparently, viewing the racing from a punt on the river may have been where the term 'punter' originated. Who is driving number 11(the third car) and which car is it?
Oliver has just corrected me. It is H.L. Brooke in his Brooke Special. And it is the First Heat of the British Trophy Race (Handicap). Stuart-Wilton and Brooke both had #11 in different races at Brooklands on 1 August 1938.
Love the PC on crowd control. Was that to make sure they got the right crowd and no crowding?
Motor Sport caption the picture as follows:
'Here a group of boaters take in the action of the August Bank Holiday meeting at Brooklands as a policeman calmly ensures there's no trespassing onto land.'
