Dear All,
I am trying to trace an original photograph of my car competing in the London/Exeter trial in December 1932.The car is shown climbing Meerhay a photograph which appeared in both the "Motor" and "Light Car" in January 1933.The "Motor" centre spread of drawings by Brian de Grineau also shows the car at Virginia Water.
I have tried all the usual places with no luck.Any ideas where I might try?.Perhaps there is a collector who may have some early photographs of the trial.
It's likely I have allready posted this request on the forum in the past?.
I will keep my fingers crossed that something might turn up.
Tim.

Oh dear I have made a bit of a mess with this posting?.How do I rotate the photograph and close the huge gap between the photograph and the script?.

Tim,
Meerhay is a super long hill that you can still climb today.I have climbed it several times on the Exeter and we did use it once for the Kimber Trial. Well worth a visit. It is just outside Beaminster in Dorset. If you need help finding it contact me.
Hope you find some potos of your car,
Alan

Tim. Another place to look is the Louis Klemantaski collection (both photographs and programmes) held by the Stamford University in Stamford, Connecticut. A Google search on "KLEMCOLL" will let you in.

I would be unsure about going up Meerhay as the locals may become a little excited as they are very 'horsey'!!!

Mike is right, don't try to drive up it today. At the very least you would probably take off your exhaust.Apart from the fact that it is not now open to vehicles it has become very washed out by the heavy winter rains.
Just after the war the dust carts drove up to deposit in the landfill site at the top!
It's a good walk set in lovely scenery. Not far from where we run the Kimber trial so why not come down and kill two birds with one stone?
Best,
Alan

OK Centric I will stick to walking up Meerhay, when I take a look. Thank you Cathelijne.I have contacted the Morris clubs but no response so far. There must be a number of private collectors of photographs of the various trials out there, but so far I have not found anyone, just a few hints of various collections and the destruction of a particular collection of London/Exeter pictures.
Keep looking.
Tim.
