Strange, speeded up again now :) sorry false alarm, amending a post is fast, but making a new reply post is much slower now

I believe this is the same issue I reported a few days ago.

Colin My post above took 20 secs to appear. I believe most of the delays are due to the increased internet traffic Nick

They took longer than normal Nick, noticeably. This one 30 seconds and not as instant as before

Let me test...
This posting took 17 seconds, but longer posts can take even longer.
The edit, however, came back immediately, so it can't be internet congestion.

Just testing
The initial message took 20 seconds. I'll let you know how long the edit took ...
It was almost instantaneous!

Same as the others - new posts take an age; edits are almost instantaneous.

Thank you for the information. New posts consume much more internet & server time than edits. Every part of the process requires the program (the forum software) to communicate with the database, wait for a response, complete the action then move onto the next action. Such things as incrementing the number of posts seems simple but is quite a complex process in itself. Edits are much more simple since all that is required is a simple change of the text to be written to the database. I will test the read / write time this evening (middle of the night in the UK) to see how long a post takes to action. I will report that here. Nick
