Ian Grace came up with this picture which caught my eye as Armagh is where I grew up. It was, and still is, a small country town so I was intrigued to see these M.G. and Morris cars on display as there wouldn’t have been that many buyers around there in those days. The other thing that caught my eye, and I wonder was this the norm in Great Britain, was that the garage was an agent for both Morris and Austin, and in fact, Humber as well. I’d have thought that Austin and Morris would have wanted their agents to be exclusive, but perhaps not. From what I can determine, the garage seems to have gone out of business in 1935.

I was very excited to spot on Ebay a while ago a Dealer Plaque for the garage that sold my 1933 Austin 7 Saloon from new. When I actually looked at the image, it was clearly advertising their Morris allegiance, complete with Ox emblem.

I was also surprised to find that Victor Ltd., the M.G. main agent in Norn Iron was also an Austin agent, although at different premises I think.

It was probably there by necessity as McDowell's premises were burnt down twice around the time of the Great War!

The M-type still has its windscreen stickers, like this car in the factory.

I believe the stickers said something to much the same effect as this one on a 1920's Morris -

Has anyone a legible image showing the wording on an M-type screen?
