I came across this photo in some ancient Register files just now. The car in the foreground is undoubtedly J2966, date and location n/k but perhaps when it was owned by Terry Holden or Eric Tieche.
The car behind it is YY 6801 which has been variously recognised as J3131, J2236 or J2336
Any clues please?
Thanks!

Dick that photo was taken during Colin Tieche's ownership of the car in the early 70's. I think he raced it once , maybe twice with the 18 inch wheels but it did not handle well.
I purchased the car from Colin, took it apart, rebuilt the engine, brakes, steering, suspension etc and sorted it to race again after quite a few hard years in Colin's hands.
Here I am trying not to be overtaken by Mr Hawke in his customary cornering pose at Silverstone May 78. Think I managed third place that day. I later sold the car to Lawrence Moore who had it for many years before selling it to Eric Tieche who replaced the cycle wings with the original swept wings from my current J2 after spending many months patching and repairing them.
It was always a very quick J2 and stopped well with its Morris 8 hydraulic brakes. I think Eric left the car to a relative who, I believe, still owns it.
It was often confused with Eric's original J2, MG 2853 because they were both the same shade of red and had similar registration numbers. Indeed they featured together in a comedy TV programme in the 1970's which played on the similarity of the two cars. MG 2853 was subsequently owned, raced and used extensively by Phil Coombs but now has a new owner in Stephen Rees who is planning to campaign it this year. PS Sure looks like Tony maybe he can confirm location.

YY6801 is Dads old J2. yes that's him standing between the two cars
Oh the joys of identification. What I do know is the car with YY6801 was owned from 1964 by Dad. I have a pic of the 1966 log book that states J2131. So it's an old error if its not!
Plucked from a maidenhead field with a PA. The PA Engine was used in YY6801. Heavily campaigned in standard, then J4 guise. Sold in 1978 to Japan with Lightweight pointy tail body.
Resto in 1968 or so...

Now in Japan this is about 6 yrs ago i think

correct Nick, I helped restore the car for a very good friend. Had planned to race it for him in 2020 but some crazy virus scuppered our plan! Now been sold and I hope the new owner will bring it out in the future! Some serious power!
