These are from a lovely gentleman who, having spotted the PA, talked to me in Tesco's car park about the cars that he owned in the early and late 1950's. MG 1352 he says was a special bodied 'M' Type, and AKX 560 a J2, with Ford engine. Neither are on the DVLA database. Is anybody able to shed any light on either ?

I'm fairly sure that 'special bodied M Type' is a very altered D Type - just trying to match the Registration Number to a chassis number! Ted. |

I think MG1352 is a cut down J1. Cut down door and no glove box knob (because the horn/dip was mounted there).

MG1352 is I think a J1 which has had a rear end shunt! The rear wings have been cropped a little and a complete new back to the body. the doors are cut away, the D doors are like the F.
So my money is on a J1.
Fingers crossed they return up. always such a pleasure when you can reunite someone with their memories... |

AKX 560 is J4148, guarantee plate issued 18 October 1933. Painted black with blue upholstery.. sold through University Motors to P. Healy-Hutchinson of Amersham in Buckinghamshire and first registered on13 January 1934. Listed on the Register here - https://www.triple-mregister.com/cardetails_pub1.php?chassisno=J4148 - complete with photos taken recently in Andy King's workshop. It would appear to be now registered GS 4648

Point of order Mr Johnston. I think you meant to write J4184 not 4148, which is an entirely different vehicle....

Oops! <blush>. My apologies, Chris. Indeed Dick is correct. The details when new are indeed those of J4184 which was AKX 560. But in looking up its current status I transposed the last two digits, which of course explains the different registration number. <grovel, grovel>

Thankfully Simon, we had spotted your posting on the forum this morning and having a file of known provenance on J4148 which is indeed with us here at our workshop, it took only a call by us directly to Dick to rectify your error.
We have to be grateful that Chris Reeson had not yet contacted Mr Turner thanks to ours and Dicks prompt attention.
So, we are still looking out for J4184 in the hope that this will be traced.
Leaving Andy and I to get on with the day job and then to load Cracker ready for the California Cup and supporting the Triple-M Register at MG Live tomorrow. This is how we consider our time is best spent rather than correcting other peoples cock ups.
