I am still looking for a J2 sump filter. Someone must have one on a shelf or in that oily old sump under the bench.

Thanks Lew but I’ve asked Rich and he said he doesn’t like to make them. That’s why I made the wider appeal.

Not terribly hard to make them, IF (and that's a big IF) you can find or rescue the ends. I tried for months to locate the threaded end, but was finally given a PA filter which I lengthened into an NA filter.

If P ends are the same as J, I may be able to help with a grotty P one.

Is the gauze filter itself necessary if the engine has a full flow filter added?

From memory, the ends are the same. It's the length that varies. I used the ends from a J2 filter to build my NA filter.

The P type thread is much bigger than the J2 thread.

Tim, you may be correct. I was only going by what I was told as to the origin of the filter I used. I assumed it was J2, but might have been P-type. All I know is that it fit after adding a 12 inch long core and gauze.

That's a shame; the thread is about 1 5/8" dia.

Wouldn't want another "cross" thread.
