Whilst I wasn't pro-BREXIT, the theory is that we don't have to follow EU rules. We could adopt, say, US rules if they suited us better. True, the EU would stop importing cars built in the UK, but we import an order of magnitude more in the opposite direction. Sadly the theory fails at this point as our Politicians are still beholden to dreams of being part of a rapidly disappearing world and time when we have/had influence. Dangerous isolationist views resonate within the UK and Europe to some extent and need to be countered.
