I have been contacted by David Allen who has advertised his N type for sale in Safety Fast.
David was contacted by a potential buyer. He noted:-
"His name is Ari Samuel and I sent him some further pictures of my car. He has now said he will offer my asking price but as he is a drilling engineer in the Baltic he cant come to see it but will arrange payment by EU bank transfer and will then send a courier firm to pick the car up and do the documentation."
David has advised me he had just come to the end of a long saga with this chap Ary Emanuel and concluded that he is a dishonest scammer and sent him packing.
David also contacted Martin Latimer who last year came across the same individual and was saved by his bank's fraud department.
I thought it a good idea to mention this as a warning to anyone who has a car for sale.
There has been another attempted fraud by a scammer wanting to "invest" in vintage cars who had a long sorry tale about large sums of his money being frozen in an overseas bank account and if only the seller would help him release this money he would reimburse the seller the price of the car and give him a substantial sum for acting as his "agent". Maybe not a very subtle scam, but there are plenty more plausible ones out there. Nick
