Anyone have a good usable tach cable that I could buy? I have access to several that have committed suicide and the usual vendors have none and have not had any in over a year,
33" long, usual Jaeger instrument end (3mm square), spade end at the camshaft.

Lew. Have you tried Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham or Speedy Cables in Swansea. Both firms make up cables (probably for the "usual" suppliers which you mention) so they should not be out of stock. They have also been known to make one up to callers while you wait. Not much help for you personally, but a clear indication of the sort of supplier they are.

I'm awaiting a response from both Speedograph and Speedy Cables. I'm quite sure S&V get theirs from Speedograph but have been out of stock for over a year. My old broken cable is being sent off to a shop in Canada for repair. But if I could find a new cable, I would be a happy puppy.

Update: West Valley Instruments in California have agreed to make a new cable. I am awaiting a price and schedule. Also, the two UK suppliers have responded, but I'd prefer to order in the US. Then, Vintage British Cables in Alberta, Canada will repair the old cable.
So, not yet, but a solution seems to be in sight.
