Excellent recent Bulletin but what a sad story from Mike Hughes about all his painstaking work in bringing back to life such a rare and interesting car only for it to become a "special". I can imagine how he must feel even now. On a rather lesser scale I still feel regret about the fate of a lovely little 1933 Austin 10/4 Cabriolet which I had for about 15 years which took us on a couple of rallies into Holland (via Felixstowe P&O Ferries). Sold to a couple "up North" for his wife but since seemingly disappeared without trace. OK, not the most exciting of cars but had a certain charm! Simon C.
So many of these cars have that "certain charm" you speak of Simon and it's always a shame when they vanish.
My story was finding, in my youth, a Morris 8 4 seat tourer that had obviously been towed to the back of a local car park and abandoned. With a teacher training college in the town I had visions of it running a big end or something and being put out to grass by a young student. A friendly policeman was going to find out who owned it but before he got back to me I found this really quite smart little car sitting on its brake drums, screen smashed and various bits missing. Very sad.
