Here's a picture of a good family friend's J2, the photo was taken the day after their wedding, in 1947, prior to setting off to Spain for their honeymoon. Apparently the 2000 mile trip went without problems except for difficulty obtaining petrol in war torn Europe. No record of the car seems to exist.

I thought it looked like 1949 rather than 1947, Lech.
I like the length of half-round strip nailed or screwed to the bottom edge of the body to keep the metal attached to the timber frame. But I will say the bonnet fit is better than on my car where the hinge line is about half an inch out of line with the scuttle.

It is interesting to see how large a J2 can look at times in old photographs.
The bride is sitting so low she would have had difficulty seeing over the steering wheel. Presumably this low seating position is due to deflated pneumatic upholstery.
By the way, can anyone read what it says on the side of the bonnet?

Joan, sitting in the car was just over 5 ft tall, that's probably why the car looks large. The J2 was called "Tug boat Annie" no idea why, maybe the registration? |
