I'm sorry to have to let you know that George died this morning in Frimley Park Hospital, He had never really recovered from a fall at his daughter's home at last Christmas. As soon as the funeral arrangements for available I'll let you know.

Really sad to hear this news. A great character, competitor and all round lovely person, with a fine set of trialist's knees to boot! As ever, a few words on a forum cannot hope to capture a person's life, but I will remember fondly the good times, especially on The Kimber Trial. |

This snippet from the 2006 Kimber Trial report in Alan Grassham's inimitable style brings back fond memories... Alan's tongue-in-cheek assessment of the Ward's performance is both accurate and I believe complimentary, as the Wards made a formidable team together, and Alan's dry humour is a nod to the seemingly casual but highly competitive duo, who won the Kimber Trophy and the driving tests at Butleigh the following day.
The other "evergreen character" referred to is dear-departed Mike Linward, and note that Patrick Gardner was also up there in second place. All missed greatly.

Sad news indeed. Another of the old Gomsallers gone. Very happy memories of George (in his shorts) and his part dismantled trialing Ptype at one of the many Black Horse Trials organised by Patrick Gardner. I wonder if they are both setting up another natter together? NW JB 877 |

Very sad news, another great Triple-M personality who will be missed.
As noted George was a trialist and there are many pictures of him competing in his well used PA, always with a smile on his face.
My condolences to his family.

What sad news. George was a much liked enthusiast for our cars and a keen trialist. He was always out there actively using his PA whenever possible. So many good memories of him at so many events and of course going back in time to the old Gomshall meeting. Rest in peace George. Terry

What sad news. George was unique, an amazing character, the like of which we shall sadly not see again. He allowed nothing to upset him. His PA was perhaps a little scruffy and, yes, bits did drop off occasionally. Despite this both George and the car carried on their serene way. We shall all miss him dreadfully, none less than Jo to whom I send my condolences. RIP old friend. |
