J3017 has been in Ontario Canada since about 1967. It was for sale and photos taken in Midland, 1967, show some unusual details of the car. MGCC chassis files only show chassis number J3017, engine number 1815AJ ( still in the car ) and build date 14/3/33. No known UK plate.
I have owned the car since 1980. In 1970 it had Ontario plate 43167. The unusual dash instruments, chrome door protectors top and bottom and 9" Wolseley hydraulic brakes are several of the non-original details. To say nothing of the plaid seat covers!
Couple photos attached. I have others. Only other detail is it was for sale at Smith Auto Co in January, 1939.
Long shot I'm sure, but can anybody shed any more light on J3017 history? Hoping J3017 will be back on the road in spring 2014. Thank from Canada, Bob

I think those door protectors were an available period accessory?

I have a pair which are quite ornate and neatly fit the profile of the top of the L2 door. I do not think they will fit on the P type doors.

The wheel rims seem to be in an "interesting" condition! Getting on for octagonal.

Barry, not really, the scanner has put some funny glitches in the photos, steering wheel and road wheels are quite round. Surprising to me how the car was modified, particularily the dash, yet retained many original J2 bits. Attached photos show;
RHS engine, note magneto
LHS engine, lovely water hoses
Full frontal view.
Happy New Year to all and hope to find out some history of J3017 prior to 1967.
Thanks, Bob
