I'm in need of the reduction box to attach the speedometer cable to the transmission for L0280. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. |

Rob, Is it really a "reduction" box on the L-type? I'm not very familiar with the L-types, but on most Triple-M cars, it's simply a right angle drive. Here in North America, Ian Marr (farley1 on the Forum) makes them.

I was thinking it was just a 90 degree angle drive myself but got word today from Barry Walker that it had a 100:143 ratio. Perhaps other L Type owners could chime in. |

There's no reduction box on my L1. In fact it doesn't have the angle drive either. It seems to work OK though.

Sorryy, ment to say that it also has no angle drive the 100:143 is a straight reduction box wheree the in and out shafts rotate at the same direction. There are other boxes out there which also reverse the drive. Good luck Sven |

Some years ago (2003), Chris Nowlan mentioned he got a nice, but pricey, repro reduction box from David Naylor.

That image looks awfully like the reduction box on the later 'T' series cars. Is it possible to check these ratios, and if not appropriate to open one up and substitute for a better set?

I think the T type ones have a ratio of 2.25, I had one on my 18/80 which made the speedo read about 20% slow. It looked like the one in Oliver's picture above.
