Thanks Colin, and to you. How I wish I were worth £60 an hour! Agreed that you got good value for money.

Peter, The 'Simply Bearings' website list 1/4' x 1' rollers as being in stock at, as you say, £36 per 10 but they also list the following prices, £120 for 50 or £162 for 100. Lets hope The Old Bearing Company can come up trumps.

Thanks for your reply. Yesterday Simply Bearings checked the conflict in their prices quoted on their website and on ebay. They subsequently advised me that the prices on their web site are incorrect. The prices on ebay are the correct ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141858006552?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2661&var=430996122404&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Yes let's hope that The Vintage Bearing Co come up with some reasonable prices. Whilst John Reid assures us that it only takes an hour to grind and polish 23 1" rollers, it would be preferable to be able to buy the correct size.
Happy Christmas to all who have contributed to this thread and indeed all forumists, Peter |

Peter,
Go and look at the link you have mentioned, todays QUOTED prices are £38.40 for 50 and £57.60 for 100.

The Vintage Bearing Company have told me that they cannot supply 1/4" x 7/8" rollers. So I am going to buy some 1" rollers from Simply Bearings and encouraged by John Reid and my friend Cecil Schumacher I will grind them myself. As the rollers come in packs of ten I will have a few spares to practice on.

Many thanks for your posting. However I have now ordered the 1" rollers intending to grind them to size myself. But this morning I had a very opportune meeting with a good friend of mine, who said that he would get them ground for me, as a favour. It must be Christmas!
Thanks, Peter |

Hi Peter - I would be happy to pay for a set of these needle rollers, if that helps with your prospective purchase of 100. Not in any rush, but please let me know next few weeks, cheers, jon |

Many thanks for your offer. However, rightly or wrongly I decided that as the 1" rollers are readily available at £30 for 30, forumists would not really want to put a set on the shelf for x years just to save few pounds. So I have just ordered 30 for myself.
I have had a couple of people express an interest in 7/8" rollers if I managed to find a source but you are the first to express an interest in buying 1" rollers to put on the shelf.
All the best for the new year, Peter

Peter, I have ordered a set of 30 at 1" from SB through e-bay, for £31 as you have. No problem to put them in a collet and cut to length and dress the ends nicely, I am sure I will need them. Your information has been very useful, so thanks for that, jon |
