Hi,
Following are the photos of J3 3763 now rebuilt back on its original chassis. The car has been rebuilt to the specifications of when it was raced in the UK and then subsequently in Australia between 1934 and 1949. The final photos are of the car in Australia prior to the war.

The car was referred to a J4 when imported to Australia because of modifications made by K.H Perry including outside exhaust, ENV manual gearbox, 12" brakes, larger Sc and cutaway drivers door.

Many thanks to all those MG enthusiast in Australia who assisted in the restoration in many ways. Particularly Ed Taylor and Tim Jackson for their research on the history of the J3s. Norm Goodall and Jeff Newey who provided the restoration skills which I do not have.

cheers

Hi Ross

Thanks for sharing the photos with us - what a great rebuild of such a historic car.; it must be great fun to drive! It reminds me of the time when J4002 appeared on the scene after the rebuild by Colin Tieche, the car went as well as it looked and set a new standard for anyone rebuilding a Triple-M car.

What boost do you get from the supercharger?

Regards

George

A fabulous restoration, Ross!

As a matter of interest, can you please say when the car carried the Victoria plate 87-338? I don't think we have that on the Register.

What we do have (as you probably know) is the original reg JB641 and also (at some unknown date/s) MG 580 as well as MGJ33

Any insights appreciated!
Thanks

Absolutely fantastic Ross. I am sure Derry is looking down with a big smile on his face. The last photo second person on the right is Granddad.

"As a matter of interest, can you please say when the car carried the Victoria plate 87-338? I don't think we have that on the Register."

I'm sure Ross will correct me if I am wrong, I believe the issued plates (all for the state of Victoria) were:
87338 issued 27th Nov 1934
AG589 18th July 1939
EM865 30th Nov 1942
HR310 22nd March 1946
UU770 17th May 1951
GXY240 26th Feb 1959
MG580 1981?

Matthew.
