I have an old print of Nuvolari in K3 race number 17 and Hamilton in J4 race number 25.
The K3 looks to be Green in colour which is what I expected but the J4 looks blue.Does anyone know if this is correct and if so why the cars were these colours?

I do not know the colour of J4 002 but I have reason to believe that J4 oo5 was blue.I had the paint from one of the original panels analysed and although the surface colour was green the first coat was blue. Also I have just had the scuttle bashed out,it was flattened when Gerry Gougen rolled the car at Watkins Glen, and there are traces of blue paint on the underside. Not conclusive I know so if anyone else has more info I would be very interested.

During the time when Gerry Goguen owned the J4, it was most certainly blue - a fairly dark blue. Below is a photo of Gerry driving the car at Watkins Glen in the early 2000s.

Evidence. Helck included the badges, but not the doll mascot. Dugdale ignored them all.

Thank you to those who have replied. It would appear the J4 was indeed blue. Does anyone know why it was this colour or was it simply to make it look different or stand out so pit crew could see it approaching?
