Hi I am looking for a new contact set of a L2 magna with the DQH6A distributor, the contact set part number is 400,635.
I have tried most of the likely suppliers but without any success so far.
Could anyone point me to a potential source?
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick.
Sorry that I can't advise. But I was impressed with your two "puns" in one sentence.

Nick, to my knowledge the LUCAS No. of the N-L-K contact-breaker set is 400,636. Maybe your No. 400,635 is a variation. The std. width of the spring is 7,6mm, but there are 7,9mm springs with more elastic force. I was lucky to find the set below years ago at Beaulieu, and the tag tells, that they also could be traced at Humbers or Morris Commercial ? Gerhard

Hi from my old Remax catalogue the ES47 is their equivalent to the Lucas 400415 as used on P types etc. There is no Remax equivalent to the 400636 listed.

The Remax part number for the Lucas 400636 points set is ES47A. The "A" is important, as the contact on the fixed base is pointing in a different direction to the contact on the ES47 (without the "A").
Incidentally, a manufacturer called CI also makes an alternative for the Lucas 400636 and their part number is CR12 (speaking from memory. I have one in my garage, but I am too lazy to go and check it now. I will look at it tomorrow and re-post my answer if my memory is incorrect)

Having built up a reserve of energy overnight, I have now opened up my garage door and can confirm that the points set made by CI (which stands for Commercial Ignition Company of Brentford, Middlesex) is CS12. This is the equivalent to the elusive Lucas 400636. The box I have has the price of 5 shillings written on it, but be prepared to pay a bit more for one now as the current "going price" for the 400636 is top-side of £30.00 ! I also have a further alternative, which is FC.L37 made by Claudet, but I have never seen one of these so I cannot confirm that it is identical.
