I have the cut off P tube. I guess you will be better off with remains that are closer to home. I can be your last resort. Rod.

Ollie
I nearly bought one a while ago from the chap at Sherwood Farm... Mr Body's son I think...
He may still have it, it was in very good condition...

Why on earth would you cut it? And ruin the original chassis.

The L2 chassis was apparently made by cutting off the rear of the Li chassis and fitting the J2 body instead of the four seater one.
It does seems a shame that those who want to create a racer have to spoil an original chassis when you can make new ones. It seems the wish to use an original registration plate drives this. Surely something the bureaucrats could look at?
However, if people do cut the back off it provides the rear castings for F and J chassis. I don't think this casting is available new yet. In the end I used the originals on the new F0313 chassis, fire-damaged as they were.
Cheers

Hi Peter, C,D,F & J chassis do not have the parts that Oliver wanted. On the "big cam" cars the chassis was extended rearwards of the rear spring trunnion cross tube to have a pair of rear chassis knuckles and a fixed tube joining them. This supported body/spare wheel carrier... actual fixings depending on model. On the L2 the chassis was cut just to the rear of the trunnion cross tube so that the J2/3/4 spare wheel fittings could be used where the body/fuel tank supported the carrier. Approx 6" of chassis is removed leaving the rest intact. FOZ |

Have you tried Vintage MG Parts as they make chassis castings and generally seem to have more parts than they have advertised on their website. I have bought parts from them and the quality is excellent
