Can anyone help?

The front wheel splines on my J2 are worn. I have done a quick search and just wondered if anyone knows where I can get some new ones or reconditioned if that's possible...?

Thanks in advance....

Tom

Unusual for a front hub to show excessive spline wear. It's usually the rears.

That said, I would think there is a reasonable chance of sourcing a serviceable original via this forum.

Are you sure the problem lies with the hub and not with the wheel centre? Try the wheel on a different hub and try a different wheel on the suspect hub.

Dear all, Thanks for your helpful comments....

Apparently the front wheels had the front spinners knocked on really tight to take the 'play' out of the wheels....

Ideally I would like an original pair if possible....but also wondered whether the ones I have can be 'recut' or reconditioned ...?

I will speak to my friend Jeff on Monday and get back to you Richard. Many thanks Tom

I replaced mine recently from S & V, sensible to check originals for stress cracks on these important, vulnerable items.

"Apparently the front wheels had the front spinners knocked on really tight to take the 'play' out of the wheels...."

That usually means that the wheels are distorted, the hubs are much tougher than the wheels.

Borrow or find a new -ish wheel and check the tightness.

Tom,

I have a pair of original front hubs. Pics of N/S one attached. O/S needs to be cleaned up a bit. 60 GBP the pair plus carriage, or can be brought to Stoneleigh.

Tom, I think it would be well worth checking out the wheels as Sven suggests. What happens if the nuts are really whopped up tight is the the drive cone at the inner end of the wheel centre splays out so that it no longer matches the cone on the hub. Everything is now taken on the splines and your damaged wheels will soon damage your new hubs.
