What can the the membership tell me about the following?
It was a dark and poorly lit building.

P 412 55A/135P
P 1641 229/165P with 98 stamped on the scuttle woodwork and finally
a bonnet hinge on a P type stamped 2571 -01

Its difficult to say - are these chassis and engine numbers?

PA 412 was a red two seater, 135P denotes single breather PA engine.

PA 1641 was exported from new, 165P denote two breather PA engine, but PA engine numbers start at 501AP.

PA chassis numbers stop at PA2250, so 2571 did not exist, could it be a J bonnet?

It may be that the body was constructed locally, hence different numbering...

Graham

Hello Graham

Thanks for the reply.

Initially I too thought that perhaps the bonnet may have been a J type but 2571 is/was a two tone Old Ivory and Light Fawn J2 .I do not know how that colour was stamped on the hinge but I am sure it was not 01 unless the code was OI for Old Ivory. As said it was not well lit and the eyes are aging.

The other two cars are obviously P types 412 and 1641 , but the third a mystery.

Don'tJ and p bonnets have different louvre patterns? I think the P just has them forward of the firewall... if so telling one from the other should be simple if the sides are there of course. Not sure how the lengths compare...

Cheers

P
