A question please for those who may know.
Being relatively new to MG, I was wondering whether MG offered any personal presents as a way of saying thankyou when a new car was sold. The reason for asking is that my other favoured car manufacturer Rover during the early 1930s always gave purchasers of new cars a pocket watch as a thankyou gift. Did MG have a similar gesture ?
( Photo attached original gift for one of my Rovers ).

In the late '20s Morris Garages were giving out these vesta cases. This one is on ebay right now.

In 'The Darkest Hour' Churchill is represented using a matchbox of a similar design. Though set in 1940 the film also features a very nice black RM Riley in a couple of shots.
Not an MG watch these MG table lighters are an alternative to matches.

Or what about Lord Nuffield's "Revolving MG-Calendar" for special customers! Gerhard

A few promotional items from my collection, I’ve never seen a pre war MG pocket watch though.

In Michael Ellman-Brown's book MG Collectables there are hundreds of items, including a couple of watches, to make your mouth water. Here is a picture of a couple of mine, which I have posted before.

Ian, in the pic showing the p type with cup on the bonnet, do you know the identity of the ( presumed) driver behind?
Fabulous collection, by the way....

Hi Graham, I’ll check when I’m home later this week but pretty sure there is no indication as the identity of the car or the driver. Frustrating. All the best, Ian |

Graham.
This car was discussed a couple of years back on the forum. I have tried to search the link to no avail.
A period film on U-Tube shows it on a trial. I recall Ray Masters had a hand in the film or its identification. He happened to I.D. it by the location of the Union Flag on the bonnet.
Perhaps someone can locate the posting in Search.
Brian.
