I seem to remember that it was possible to get an original battery rebuilt. Does anyone have any contacts for this service?

Try Lincon Batteries Ltd., Faraday Works, 25/26 Faraday Rd, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex SS9 5JU. Web: www.linconbatteries.co.uk; Email: info@lincon.co.uk.
You may end up finding it's more cost-effective to buy new and Lincon have 3 variants of the 19" wide thin battery used on P Types.

Most battery suppliers can get something similar - I use Berkshire Batterries in Aldermaston.
