The original NA prop-shafts had plain bearing universal joints and are probably not worth using. I did a set up some time ago but they tend to wear rapidly and may well be unsafe. If you are planning to use the car, you are probably better just getting a new one made and balanced with new needle roller universal joints that are sealed for life.
Hi Ian, Several years ago I tried to have my existing prop shaft refurbished. I contacted Bailey Morris Ltd (propshaft and driveline specialists in the U.K.) who, having examined it, advised me that the original Hardy Spicer universal joints were impossible to restore and they strongly recommended that I have a new propshaft made with modern universal joint assemblies. This I did but kept the original to go with the car to the new owner when that time arrives! This at least allowed me to get the car on the road and enjoy it. Malcolm
