Does anyone have a contact email address for the above business. I understand that they build alloy body's. Has anyone used this business by chance. Thank you in advance. |

Hi Wang, as far as I know the owner of Compound Curvatures has retired, Andy King bought his jigs and things to keep on producing bodies and suchlike. Here is his website address. https://prewarmgparts.co.uk

Paul. I think that you are confusing the issue here. The business taken over by Andy King was that of Enrique Linares and Andy ontained all the body patterns and drawings when Enrique retired.

I only live a few miles away from Ray(and son) Pettit's business which is still running and making the ali bodies as well as many other fabrications.
Steve Baker has one of his bodies as seen on this advert ... www.stevebakermg.co.uk/carsforsale.htm

Thanks everyone for your comments. As I understand the Steve Baker bodies are different to the compound curvatures ones. The difference & price I do not know. I will endeavour to contact Steve Baker as well. With regards to the email address I was after, someone in the UK kindly has phoned the business & asked on my behalf. It appears he operates “old school” & does not have email & only relies on phone & personal visits. Wang |

Compound curvatures only make bodies to fit a TA chassis. I sold a L TYPE a few years ago to a French couple they arranged for compound curvatures to make a new body for it which they agreed to do. So they came all the way from France picked the car up. I striped the car ready for the new body to be fitted I took them to compound curvatures. We got there but they had gone home for there dinner break knowing people would be coming all the way from France! He came back from his dinner break saw the car and said “take it away” he didn’t realise it was a 6 cyclinder he said his body’s are made to fit TA chassis and that’s it. He’s not prepared to alter the bodies to suit the car! Which he could do very easily! He was very abrupt and the French people were very upset! Steve bakers bodies are a lot better and stronger and I’m sure they can be made to suit any car. |

Greg is quite correct. Also, do be aware that the cockpit cutout area on these cars are not always generally as per original factory Q body form and have often been built with larger cockpit cutouts, so I understand.
The T type people building these look-alike MMM 'Q/T type' cars' are not always as particular in the detail compared to their MMM counterparts. Best to go to a specialist in building MMM bodies. There is a company in Belgium I understand who can build an excellent Q body. Can be found with a simple Google search for MMM MG Q type bodies or similar, I recall.I was in discussions with them a couple of months ago.

Thank you Richard & Greg. I phoned compound curvatures & the were very friendly but not helpful. They are cheap but it is a one size fits all way of thinking with them & it is TA only. They will not ship & don’t want to know about it. I have emailed Steve Baker & have had no reply. I will try & track the Belgium source. I have a MMM contact there who maybe able to help. |

Hello everyone, just a line to clarify that we do not use any Compound Curvatures components in any of our body kits or our own builds.
That said we have an abandoned restoration project in stock at the moment which I believe has a Compound Curvatures body fitted.
We have our own fixtures, fittings, jigs and an exclusivity deal in place with a panel shop in Hinckley for making our MG TA based body kits.
Regards, Steve & Luke |

As you enter the Sparkenhoe Business Centre in Hinckley, which houses the MG Octagon Car Club and several other businesses, you can't fail to hear the tap, tap, tap of a 'metal basher'. But this is no ordinary 'metal basher' because he turns the most beautiful bodies which go on to TA (and TB) bodies - true works of art!

As a very satisfied customer, I can highly recommend Max Szewczyk (pronounced "Shefjet") in Reading. Max took a basic Q body I purchased as part of a project. He adjusted it to fit the chassis properly, made a new bonnet with correct period louvring, new front cowling, undertrays and other bits all to a very high standard. Max is based in Reading UK. The business is called MJS Panels. |
