Hello again,
Does anyone have the dipstick holder that can be modified / adapted to bolt to the top of a K3 winged sump. It takes the oil pipe from the head directly into the sump.
cheers, Paul. |

Hello, Paul.
If you fail to receive a positive response, I could do a drawing of this part for you.
Luckily, it is a part which can be turned up in aluminium on a centre lathe.
Cheers,
Chris. |

Hi Paul, I find this question confusing. The dipstick holder for an original elektron winged sump is a vertical boss cast into the top of the sump. I would be interested in what both you and Chris come up with. Best, Chris |

USA Chris, is not for the dipstick itself,it's for the centre oil return line from the head. It feeds directly into the sump from the head.
UK Chris, cheers, I'll let you know if anything shows up, Rich Hardy hasn't got any and has no plans to make anymore soon.

Bryan Ditchman (not on e-mail) has made some pommels for the various dipstick types. They are in aluminium and merely have to be drilled and tapped to take a threaded steel dipstick (easily made). The MG medallion has been created using the spark erosion method and whilst it is not an exact replica of the original it is a convincing copy.
Examples were on sale at the Register Summer Gathering earlier this month and they come with full instructions including a drawing done by Dr. John Reid in 2009. Bryan is on +44 (0)1189 326346
I don't know how many of these Bryan has made or other details! I have no financial interest in the above - just thought I would pass the info on!

Hi Dick
I have a repro oil dipstick fitted to my PB supplied by one of the well known MG spares suppliers and when comparing with John Reids drawing there are major differences.
The actual rod length is spot on at 3 9/16" however the Full mark on Johns drawing shows 1 1/2" and mine shows 2".
The handle is also shorter however its the divisions on the dipping rod that are so different to Johns drawing that concern me.
I would value any comments.
