Hello everyone,
Does anyone know where to get a chrome rad mesh to suit a P Type rad, S&V don't have any, and haven't for ages.
Thanks, Paul. |

Hello Paul - that would be a non-standard treatment for a PA. The usual fitment is a dummy honeycomb panel generally painted black. (Other models have the mesh you describe.)

Paul,
I have used stainless steel mesh in radiator shells, which looks well and is available Iin hole sizes close to the original.
I have previously bought it from Gregory’s Autoparts, but I think Paul Beck can supply it.

Hello, Alan and Paul.
Hope you won’t mind me correcting you, Alan, but I think the mesh is nearer 1/2” square !
Regards,
Chris. |

I seem to recall the correct flat profile strips with centre score were made a few years ago in Belgium. Does anyone have any more accurate info?

Chris and Paul,
There have certainly been more than one size of stainless steel mesh available in recent years, which is evident on my cars.
Mine range from 0.375” to 0.525” when measured between the crimped wires. The most recent purchase is 0.425”.

Hello, all.
I have a radiator mesh from, I think, a 1930s Wolseley Hornet which has approximately 3/8” squares constructed of plated brass (not sure if chrome or nickel). The wire has a semi circular cross section, the rear face being rounded and the front, centre scored as described by Richard.

Whilst on the subject of radiator grilles, I have a pair of chrome mesh stone guards which came off my PA if anyone is interested.
