Is that a half shaft and hub assembly at the side of the road?

How did you come by this photograph?
With the type set caption ; good quality of the print and the handy
third party photographer it strikes me as a magazine/motoring photograph.
Lads at play. Early forerunner of Top Gear?

Hi John,
The photo was sent to me by a close friend, Roger Corti, who helps run the Ford Y & C Model Registry.
He collects very old car magazines for articals for his club’s magazine, ‘Transverse Torque’ I will ask if he can supply a copy of the artical the photo was attached to.

I think I can make out 2. X half shafts in the photo.
I also note that the spare wheel spinner is for 2 x spare wheels, only one shown in the photo.

I have a suspicion that the photo may have been ‘staged’ after the actual event, for an article in a 1930s car magazine.

I would say a staged picture because although there are half shafts laying around the car still has its hubs on, although it may have blown the diff with all that extra power.
